Blorbo From My Shows

A Crocheting Project

An Explanation

I am an avid consumer of fiction, be it written, audio, or visual. And like many people, I form very strong attachments to many of the characters. Frequently I express this by wailing to whomever is nearest me about how desperately I want to hug them, or joining in a chorus of people begging for someone to hug them.

So, I decided to do something about it.

After the fifth time I declared that I had added a character to a theoretical list of “Characters To Crochet Amigurumis Of That I May Give Them The Hugs They So Richly Deserve And Desperately Need”, I started actually keeping such a list. And eventually, whilst left unattended in the yarn section of a craft store, I started acquiring yarn and hunting for a pattern.

This is the result.

I couldn’t find a pattern I really liked. There are lots of amazing patterns out there, but none of them were shaped the way I wanted them shaped, or flowed in the way I wanted, or were huggable enough. I also hate stitching pieces together and wanted a pattern that would enable me to do as much as possible in a single, continuous piece. Eventually, I took influence from two basic patterns I found around the internet (Amy Amigurumi Doll and this pattern for doll booties), cobbled them together, and modified the bejeezus out of them. I’ve written up the basic pattern, which is linked below. Each post will contain pictures, what yarn I used for each aspect, and what modifications were made to the basic pattern.

I hope you’ll enjoy this project as much as I do.
